Inspired by the untold fight against the transatlantic slave trade
Inspired by True Events
In 1807, Britain stands at a crossroads between profit and principle. Parliament passes the Slave Trade Act, outlawing the transatlantic slave trade across the British Empire. Yet abolition in law proves far easier than enforcement at sea. To suppress a vast and deeply entrenched system, the Royal Navy establishes the West Africa Squadron—an unprecedented mission to intercept slave ships and dismantle the trade at its source. Echoes of Freedom brings to life the creation of the West Africa Squadron and the individuals whose choices shaped its mission. It is a story of inheritance and awakening, of institutional change and personal reckoning, and of a largely untold chapter of British history whose consequences continue to resonate today.
